1,108,000 copies sold

Lady Gaga's third studio album "Born This Way" has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 1,108,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Born This Way" is officially the highest selling debut of 2011. This also tops Taylor Swift's debut of "Speak Now", selling 1,006,000 in 2010 and is the highest selling debut since 2005 when 50 Cent's "The Massacre" sold 1,141,000 in the first week.

Sometime last week, it was said that Gaga would sell between 750-900k. Gaga had the album for 99 cents for a one-day sale on Amazon.com. People were saying that was a really cheap move, but the way I look at is, music is not selling like it use to and thats due to many many reasons. One being the prices, so I think it was a great opportunity to put it for 99 cents, so a lot more people be able purchase it. Sometimes when its at a cheaper price, more people will buy.
