SPICA goes retro with 4th digital single "You Don't Love Me"

Powerhouse girl group SPICA returned with a retro concept for their fourth digital single "You Don't Love Me".

The single was written and produced by their label mate and well-know K-Pop artist Lee Hyori. The track starts off with a long high note, which was a decent opener and it got my attention. I like how the production has intruments included. Their's nothing wrong with having synths and other computerize beats in a track, but when you hear something like this it sounds fresh. The chorus is quite catchy "YOU DON'T LOVE ME". The rapping shouldn't been thrown in here, it doesn't fit too well. The whole pop-retro vibe is similar to what Lee Hyori tried on her fifth full-length album "Monochrome". Overall, this could use a little more  spice. Meaning I wish it was more explosive vocally (we all know they can take it there) and it could use a higher climax.

The music video was good, but at certain times I got a little bored.

The retro concept has been done by countless other girls groups like T-ara and Wonder Girls and their title tracks became hits. This song didn't exactly shoot to number one on the charts, it became a minor hit for them. As of last year, they've been working with Miss Hyori and she has officially taken the girls under her wing. So I'm expecting a lot more music releases in the near future, with her being involved in the creating process. I have a problem with that, I want them to have their own identity. They've got all the ingredients to become super successful: they look good, catchy music, and awesome voices. Yet, the group has given amazing tunes in the past ("Russian Roulette", "Painkiller", "Lonely") and have no clue why they weren't successful.

Definitely one of the most underrated groups in K-Pop right now.
