YG Entertainment reveals name of new girl group

The teasing of the members are done, YG Entertainment has confirmed the name of the new girl group and its................BLACKPINK.

This unit will only consist of four members of JENNIE, JISOO, LISA, and ROSÉ. I had expected and preferred 6 to 9 members. It's been revealed that it was originally 9 girls, but those plans changed about two years ago by Yang Hyun Suk (YG). The other five trainees are still at the agency, theirs speculation that BLACKPINK are just a unit of the girl group that's set to debut first. Another theory is that, YG plans to debut a second girl group/sister group to BLACKPINK. So, we don't know at the moment.

YG has provided information meaning behind the group name. The rep stated:

"The meaning of Black Pink aims to contradict the common perception of the color pink. Pink is commonly used to portray prettiness, but Black Pink actually means to say that 'Pretty isn't everything'. It also symbolizes that they are a team that encompasses not only beauty, but also great talent".
