American Idol's Pia Toscano signs record deal with Interscope + 1st single info

American Idol contestant Pia Toscano has officially signed a record deal with Interscope Records/19 Recordings confirmed by Hollywood Reporter. She's getting ready to release her debut single "This Time" on (Tuesday) July 12th and will perform the song on American's Idol Live Tour this summer.

A statement was released, she said:

"I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family. [Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I’m looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true".

The song was penned by Ester Dean who has written tons of hit for Rihanna (S&M, Rude Boy and What's My Name) and Nicki Minaj (Super Bass). Its been described as being beat-driven and contains a acoustic guitar.

I didn't even watch American Idol season 10, so I barely know who Pia or any other contestants are. I've watched some of her performances and I will say she can sing, but at times she is a bit boring. Check out her performance on Ellen singing Stevie Wonder classic "All in Love is Fair".
