Listen to Kymberley Kennedy's mixtape "Cycles"
Discussing the release with FAME Magazine, Kymberley explains:
With Cycles I’ve mainly written about love, sex, regret and sorrow – all stages a person can go through in relationships and I think a lot of people can identify with that. I wanted to have fun with this record though and let myself go which is how songs like "Enabler" and "Make Me Wanna" came about. ‘Cycles’ starts almost like a relationship – with uncertainty, doubt ‘I Decide’ and moves into more playful realms before reaching the more amorous stage with songs like "I Need Your Lovin’". It ends with the same lingering feelings that you get when you come out of a relationship with the song "Why".
"Cycles" was written, recorded, and produced over a period of 6 months from her own home studio. The music covers themes of love, sex, regret, and sorrow with melancholy passion of other powerhouse vocalists like Portishead and Sade. Its a very impressive body of work, that combines elements pop, soul, R&B, and electronic. The vocals are sultry and intense, which has amazing melodies. Definitely not a regular R&B album, it has something new and different to it.
The mixtape is available for a free download via Kymberley Kennedy's website.
