Sugababe Amelle Berrabah debuts new single "Summertime"
Sugababe Amelle Berrabah has released her debut solo single and video for "Summertime". As for the group The Sugababes, they haven't released any material since 2011 single "Freedom". Their hasn't been any official announcement regarding a them disbanding, but member Jade Ewen stated last year that the group was done. So I guess this was an opportunity for them to branch out and pursue their own solo careers. Her new single will be on her upcoming debut album, scheduled to be released next year.
The singer discussed the single during a interview with attitude.co.uk: It's just a really feel-good track. The best reference I could give artist-wise is probably Bruno Mars' Lazy Song; it's got that soulfulness to it but also a reggae-ness to it".
"Summertime" is a soft catchy summer tune. I was expecting something upbeat, that could heat up the dancefloor. For a solo debut, my expectations were reasonable high. I don't think it will shoot up the charts after the single gets released. The music video shows her singing and dancing in a cornfield.
The single will be available to purchase on September 7th in the UK.
