Baiyu release Indie-R&B album "Hunter" (2012)

With several singles and EP's under her belt, Chinese-born American singer-songwriter and actress Baiyu put out her first official album "Hunter" in 2012. The music is major step away from her successful EP "Fan Fair", it's more bold than anything she's done. If your a listener of this R&B-Pop artist, you can tell that Baiyu is pushing herself to make better material. One of the highlights of the album is the amazing production. Majority of it was produced by KQuick of Grand Staff LLC. He's worked with Ryan Leslie, Chris Brown, Fabolous, and Mya; as well as contributing to the production are Vaughn-J and Hal Linton.
"I feel like we're all Hunters in our own right, whether we're looking for glory or acceptance; love or revenge; or even just the simple things in life that put a smile on our faces—it is a quest for something that is in a way almost primal and innate to our individual characters", Baiyu explains.

The album is comprised of thirteen tracks that has genres ranging from Electro-Pop to R&B to haunting Indie music. It features some guests appearances like Los of the Bad Boy family, Rotimi of the series Boss on the STARZ Network, Barbadian born Soul/R&B singer Hal Linton, and former American Idol contestant Paul Kim. It so hard to choose a favorite track, that's just says how great the music is. The album opener "Journey of Souls" has an interesting intriguing sound to it, a mix of indie R&B with a slight touch of alternative. Another highlight is the track is "Make Believe" featuring Paul Kim. Her duet with Rotimi has made some huge buzz, but this comes off as the stronger offering.

The album has a nice balance of down tempo and uptempo tracks. I highly recommend this for anyone. I myself wasn't too sure about her at first, but I gave her a chance and ended up loving the hell out of her.

You can download the album for free via her bandcamp page or you can support her by purchasing it on iTunes now.
